  2. Hi B J! The Rain Wild Chronicles is made up of four books, all currently available. Dragon Keeper, Dragon Haven, City of Dragons and Blood of Dragons. Thanks for asking!

  3. Rhiannon Simpson - April 19, 2013

Oh my goodness you are truly brilliant. Your works are amazing and you are such an inspiration. I hope to oneday be a published author and your books are the ones that got me into wanting to write. Honestly the best writing I have ever read. Thank you for everything. My favourite book is Assassin’s Quest :)

  4. Kristi - April 20, 2013

Will there be more books on the Rain Wilds? Just finished Blood of Dragons and I can not believe it is all over! Can’t wait until your next book comes out :) I have been a fan since Assasins Apprentice! Hope to hear back soon, suspense is killing me.¬

  5. Stephen Collins - April 20, 2013

I wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed your books. I have read almost all of them. You are a wonderful, imaginative author. Thank you so much, for sharing your amazing gift with us.

  6. G G Miles - April 22, 2013

  11. Barb Gomon - April 27, 2013

I have just read the first three novels of THE RAIN WILDS CHONICLES. Love them andcan not wait to read the forth book. I have a nook and they come in great. BG

  12. Becky - April 28, 2013

If you can’t find a book try Science Fiction Book Club

  13. Oh, no, those terrible Rain Wilds Chronicles! For every single one, I stayed up reading all night until past daybreak. I could not put them down! And I walk around the day slightly off kilter (well, more than usual), and wondering about the characters. Now I’ve finished Blood of Dragons. *sigh* Wonderful stories!

And I want more! What will happen with Tintaglia’s eggs? And the city? And the Elderlings? How will the heavily touched Rain Wilders migrate and assimilate? PLEASE tell me there is more to come! Please write more books that keep me up all night reading!

  14. Briar - April 30, 2013

I voice the same opinion as those above, I’m devoutly hoping for a continuation from “Blood of Dragons”! The series is fantastic and the urge to read nonstop to the end of each book was irresistible. I must admit that I have my fingers crossed for a return of Rapskal minus Tellator , and a renewal of his bond with Thymara ¬†(sorry team Tats, I’m all for team Rapskal). I feel that at the current ending, the story-line hasn’t quite tied up and there’s more to be said, so please let us know if there’s any possibility of another book!

Thank-you for your wonderful books and the effort you put into them.

  15. Fred - May 1, 2013

I have enjoyed the Rain Wild books [all 4]. Like Julie, I hope for another. Thanks for all the books. The Assissin’s Apprentice was the first I read, and I have liked all the books in between.

  16. Alice - May 6, 2013

I’m from Switzerland, so sorry for my english.
I just want to thank you for the amazing emotion that the books give to me.
When you can find the old caracter in the other books (like in the triology about the Ship and the one about Fitz)… it’s incredible. It’s like meet again your friends that you don’t see for long time..
    Thank you, really!
    Grazie mille! :)

  17. Derek Carmichael - May 7, 2013

Just started Fool’s Errand… And realized it was later in the chronology of the character. (Okay, so I’m really late to the party! :-D) Do you recommend reading the trilogies in order? Or just read them a trilogy at a time?

  18. Janice Hird - May 10, 2013

I have been reading your books for some time now and have been awaiting Blood of Dragons with anticipation.   Now that I have read it and thoughly enjoyed it I am awaiting news of another Rain Wilds story.  It is wonderful how all the characters from other series interlock, like old friends.  Thank you for all the entertaining hours you have given me.

  19. Janet - May 11, 2013

Finished Blood of Dragons – just keeps getting better. As others say, looking forward to finding out about the progeny of IceFyre &Tintaglia, and how the Elderlings grow and change.

  20. Jeff - May 13, 2013

Having been on board as an avid reader from Assasins Apprentice I’d like to thank you for the journey. It has been very fullfilling. Just now I placed Blood of Dragons on the bookshelf and wondered what’s next. I see from other posts that this was last book in this particular storyline so now we must wait. I’m hoping thta now that dragons are back in the world that we may see a retun to the six dutchies. Any hints as to what we should expect?

  21. Sonja - May 18, 2013

Derek, start with Farseer trilogy, move on to Liveship Traders trilogy, then Tawny Man trilogy and so on – it is better to read them in order. I’ve read and re-read all these books and all the others Robin Hobb/Megan Lindholm has provided us with. They’ll all absolutely fantastic. Just waiting for the next one to come out now…….

  22. Judy Roper-Smith - May 28, 2013

Have just discovered the Rain Wild series hope you do more.

  23. Jennifer - June 2, 2013

Please please please! Next book after Blood of Dragons, quickly!!

  24. Joanne - June 4, 2013

I just recently finished Royal Assassin and I have to say, you are killing me! I get so enthralled in Fitz’ world and well being that it truly influences my mood by whether or not things are going well for him! I’m excited to start Assassin’s Quest and I sincerely hope you are nicer on my nerves in this next and final book haha! Truthfully, however, I thank you for the adventure and will for sure read more of your book series. :)

  25. derrell - June 6, 2013

Quick question, Are any of the series with different tittles in some way connected? I’ve noticed that some books have places in that of other books.

  26. The only trilogy that takes place in a different world from the others is The Soldier Son trilogy.

All others (Farseer Trilogy, Liveship Traders Trilogy, Tawny Man Trilogy and the Rain Wilds Chronices) all take place in the Realm of the Elderlings. I’ve listed them in chronological order in case you would want to read them that way. It’s what I recommend. Thanks for asking.

  27. Marcela - June 12, 2013

I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful books. I have loved them all.

  28. Renee - June 12, 2013

I loved The Rain Wilds Chronicles!! I finished Blood of Dragons last night. I must say that I’m sad that it’s over. I want to know more about the battle at Chalced, Tats and Thymara, Rapskal and Heeby, little Phron, Tarman, Alise and Leftrin! I would love to see this series on film. Thank you so much for sharing your imagination and words with me!

  29. brian - June 16, 2013

OK, I am a grown man but I am totally hooked on your books. I have read them all and passed the news on to every one else I know. BUT I have just read City of Dragons and there are so many hanging story lines. Please tell me when the next one is due!

  30. Glenn - June 18, 2013

Robin. I am new to your work and have just finished the Assasins Apprentice. I am now hooked and will continue with the trilogy. I have been an avid George RR Martin fan for years but i find you work equally enjoyable. Keep them coming.

  31. Edie Nash - June 24, 2013

Your list of Novels – Is is really listed in reading order and is that order top to bottom or bottom to top? Thank you.

  32. Oh, my, NO, it is not! How did that happen? I have a new webmaster, and I’ll let him know the correct order and have it fixed right away. Thank you so much for asking about this! Correct order for the books is chronological. (You can always check the copyright date! :) My recommendation is that you start with the Farseer Trilogy, then the Liveships Trilogy, followed by Tawny Man and then Rain Wilds. Soldier Son is a separate universe, so it doesn’t fit in that chain. Inheritance is a collection of short stories, so again it is outside of the time line. Thanks again!

  33. Keith - July 4, 2013

I have really enjoyed reading all your books. Is there going to be any more books on the Fool or his race? Cheers

  34. Only time will tell, I fear. I’m waiting for the Muse to let me know what’s up next!

  35. Kat Campbell - July 7, 2013

I hope your Muse is your Catalyst and inspires more good things our way soon! Yesterday I finished Blood of Dragons, it enthralled me as all of your books have but I feel there is so much more potential to that world! I wonder what was behind all of those locked doors, and I hope your Muse unlocks more of your incredible talent. Best wishes.

  36. Debbie Longe - July 7, 2013

OMG How do you create characters that feel like family?  I love all your books, but whenever I feel blue, I pick up and read about Fitz and Nighteyes and I feel better!

I have the last book, but I don’t want to read it because then it will be over – unless I start from the beginning again lol

No one creates characters the way you do.  Many blessings on the most noble of writers!

  37. Thank you Debbie! I don’t feel I deserve quite that much praise, but after a long tough day, I really welcome it! :)

  38. Megan Overend - July 8, 2013

Hi Robin I absolutely love your books!  My Mum and I have just finished the Rain Wild Chronicles and I too like many others were up until the break of dawn reading the Blood of Dragons.  I do hope there is another one to come, it finished so suddenly!  I have decided that reading your books is like immersing yourself in memory stone!  You are taken away from your life and thrown into another world of many lives and when you are not reading you are still there pondering, wondering and imagining even when sleeping! Looking forward to your next series on the lives of the Elderlings ;)

  39. Mark - July 11, 2013

I have read many books that I find hard to put down and all of your books are very hard to put down however Blood of Dragons was impossible to put down and I in two sittings and a few hours sleep and I was finished .

I am so very much looking forward to reading more of your work as well as some of the work you inspire in others , you should look around at some of the art sites like deviantart and see some of the art your books have inspired in people.

The best brings out the best

    Thank you Robin

  40. Rachael - July 11, 2013

I have am such a huge fan of your work and am so emotionally invested in the characters! ¬†I’ve read all your books several times and have suggested them to everyone I know! ¬†I, also, hope for more to come!! So many unanswered questions (what will happen with the city, dragons, and elderings) but also so many things I DREAM of reading about…a reunion of Fitz and the Fool in the newly alive city with real dragons and elderlings…oh my!!!!! Everyone sitting around putting all the puzzle pieces into place….ahhhh!!! I can hope :) ¬†I am just so thankful for the world you have shared with us! ¬†I can’t even imagine how you create it and all the hard work writing it! Thank you, thank you! ¬†You have touched so many hearts :)

  41. Helen - July 11, 2013

I’m reading the Rain Wilds series and can only find book one and four. Where can I find tthe other two?

  42. Any local bookstore should be able to order the books for you if you request them. But you may find them immediately at your local library, perhaps. has them, of course. I hope this helps.

  43. Alan O'Luain - July 20, 2013

    Hello Robin,
Today I finaly finished the “Blood of Dragons” and after reading all of the trilogy’s over the last 5 or so years I am left with a hole in my reading life. I have followed all the characters from book to book with fascination, I have pictures in my mind of the various scenes. I might be considered a ittle too old for Fantasy titles and I have read quite a few but I have to say by far the Robin Hobb titles are the most detailed. The cnnections made with the various characters and emotions that follow are amazing. My younger brother warned me before starting my first Robin Hobb title “Shamen’s Crossing” that “She writes a lot in ‘the first person’, and can be difficult to read” . . . well it was not difficult and I think this style helps the reader connect to the main characters.

Anyway I need to start reading again tonight. I have read “The Reindeer People” and “Wolfs Brother” and have in my possesion “Cloven Hooves” and “Alien Earth” by Megan Lindholm. Robin, Could you ask Megan if it is ok to skip the four books “Harpy’s, Windsingers, Limbreth and Luck”? are they related to Cloven Hooves and Alien Earth?

I would like to finish by congratulating you on a wonderful collection of publications and look forward to the next title.

    Best regards from Ireland, Alan

  44. Bill - July 22, 2013

Just finished Fools Fate, had read first Rain Water chronicles books first and have much better context now.

Loved the books, a bit torn on conclusion. ¬† Trying to avoid spoilers, I find that despite the inherent differences I wish “Tom” could have faced the prospect of seeing “Beloved” as Starling saw “Beloved” or had met Amber. ¬†Kettle demonstrated that Fitz could be in the first 1/8 of his life. ¬†.¬†

  45. edna - July 23, 2013

I just discovered your books with the Tawny Man trilogy, and as much as I enjoyed the fantasy of the Skill and the Wit, my heart just dissolved at the romance between Fitz and the Fool. I keep on rereading sections of the trilogy where the Fool and Fitz share their moments…perhaps I’m at the age where people yearn for the loves and friendships of their youth. I hope the White Prophet will need his Catalyst again and you can bring a more satisfying resolution to their relationship.

  46. Thanks so much, Edna. Did you find The Farseer Trilogy? It tells about the beginning of their friendship. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

  47. Thank your brother for me! I think a recommendation from a family member is the best advertising a writer can receive!

  48. Matt - July 24, 2013

I listen to these audio books, went through the Farseer Trilogy (which was wonderful) and accidently listened to Dragon Keeper while waiting for my next book not realizing they all take place in the same place. ¬†Now that Farseer is done I’m trying to get through Liveship but my library doesn’t have the 2nd two books. ¬†I must say I am really enjoying it, but after listening to Farseer the Narrator in the next three series is making a pleasant book nearly painful. She lingers on words and drawls so harshly, almost as if she is trying to purr, but is hacking out a hairball instead, I wish the first narrator had finished. ¬†To tell you the truth I almost put the rest out until some extremely distant future where I have time to read the books, but I am far too busy and will endure her harshness. ¬†It says a lot of your writing that it is worth listening to her voice to get to your story.

  49. Carolynn Thiem - July 24, 2013

I don’t know if you answered this question. I am at the end of Blood of Dragons and I don’t want to finish quite yet (50 pages left) because I love your writing. Are there going to be more Rain Wild Chronicles? I really love these characters (And I am looking for signs of the Fool in all of the books in this world books.)
I started your books with the Farseers Trilogy and read all the books you wrote as they came out except for The Liveship Traders because I don’t like boats. When I finally read them I was so happy! They were amazing just like all of your books. Thank you and keep writing!¬†

  50. Margit - July 27, 2013

The Assassin/Ship/Fool trilogies are among my all-time favorite books. ¬†Are there any plans to issue the Fool in talking book format any time soon? After reading them, I listened to the Assassin and Ship and enjoyed them all over again, and now am listening to the Fitz for the second time. ¬†Will there be a “Fool’ trilogy to listen to?
Looking forward to the next book!!
